What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
I've always been fascinated by the potential of technology to drive positive change. During my time at the United Nations, I witnessed firsthand the impact that innovative solutions can have on global challenges. I was inspired by the organization's commitment to leveraging technology to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
My interest in technology, combined with my passion for making a difference, led me to pursue a career in this field. I believe that technology has the power to bridge gaps, facilitate communication, and improve lives. I'm excited to be part of the Women Tech community and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that can drive meaningful change.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
During my tenure as a Staff Officer at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), I worked on various projects that leveraged technology to drive positive change. One notable initiative that stands out is:
Development and implementation of a database management system: I contributed to designing and streamlining a database for tracking Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with key stakeholders. This project improved efficiency, enhanced transparency, and facilitated better decision-making.
Additionally, I conducted technical risk assessments and provided recommendations for mitigating potential risks associated with the construction of the new centralized ammunition storage facility in UNISFA. I also collaborated with the COE team to ensure compliance with UN standards for digital asset management and infrastructure.
I enjoyed working on these projects because they showcased the potential of technology to drive positive change in peacekeeping operations. The experience reinforced my passion for leveraging technology to support the safety and security of communities worldwide.
