What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

It has been a privilege to be part of the UN’s Technology Sector considering it is a competitive employer. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, and therefore I wanted to enhance my career by working at the UN.

What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?

My favorite project has to be migrating the OS from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I had to sensitize clients on what to expect with the new Operating system as well as train new users on how to navigate the new OS. For example, brief clients on how to navigate the new interface and also to ensure that their data will not be lost during the migration. I was also responsible for running constant updates to make sure the computers were working.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

That they should believe in themselves and that they can do anything. At some point they may receive criticism because of their gender but they shouldn't take it personally. Seek mentorship from the women that have been there before you, it adds much to your career growth and self-esteem Keep a good work/ life balance and everything will fall into place. Never stop learning, use every opportunity to learn something new because technology is a dynamic industry.
