Public Information Assistant
United Nations Information Centre in Tehran

What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

My career is not in technology, but I tend to use all my academic experience in computer science and IT in our day-to-day work, finding the simplest and more cost-effective solutions possible.

What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?

I've been with the secretariat for its massive ERP, Umoja and the recent Microsoft integration system. I was the Umoja focal point in our office when I was working with UNODC Iran, however I believe aside from the MS sway (which is impressive in how fast it enables me to make a webpage) the whole Microsoft package is amazing. Making a team's space on share point and initiating a knowledge repository on whatever subject for my colleagues would be my favorite.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Your unique point of view matters, tech needs more people like you. Don't be afraid to speak up and share your ideas.
