What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
I've always been curious and fascinated by new technologies and art since childhood. I love exploring different techniques and languages to create new forms of expression in art and communication. Beyond experimenting with visual arts, my work often combines visual poetry with themes related to Ethnography and Human Rights.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
At the UN, I've had the opportunity to work on projects about misinformation and hate speech. I've helped share inspiring fact-checking tools in workshops to motivate journalists and communicators in the Dominican Republic, alongside the UN System's interagency communications team. Combining tech tools with the arts has been a key ally in our daily efforts to communicate creatively. By combining them, I've been able to create engaging content that highlights the work we do to protect everyone's human rights.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Let's break down barriers to dispel the belief that technology is only of interest to one gender. Let's use technology to amplify our creativity and our humanity to humanize technology.
