What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

I started my career at the UN as an Executive Associate just 6 months ago. However, considering my extended experience in Information Management and Security, I assessed the requirements for Information Security Awareness at UN Azerbaijan level and decided to raise awareness amongst UN staff, enabling a cybersafe working environment that followed data protection rules. This proved to be a valuable asset and benefit the UN by providing opportunity for F2F sessions, on-site awareness and security assessments. These efforts ultimately ensured effective change management and end-user responsibility.

What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?

As mentioned above, Information Security (IS) awareness is key to ensure a cybersafe working environment and to enforce data privacy rules and regulations. Alongside this, UN IT solutions awareness has to be raised as well. My project in IS awareness covers not only cybersecurity but data protection and data privacy to end-users including high level management as decision makers. This initiative can be continued not only in Azerbaijan on a country level but on a regional and global level as well.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
