Strategic Programmes
The potential of technology to facilitate the core work of the United Nations is enormous. When the Organization is supported by modern tools and processes, and is collaborating across organizational and geographic boundaries, it can accomplish its tasks more efficiently and effectively.
In that context, the ICT strategy (A/69/517) was a collaborative effort between the Office of Information and Communications Technology and colleagues throughout the Secretariat – including Headquarters, Offices Away from Headquarters, Regional Commissions, and Peacekeeping Missions – that was designed to meet the challenges of a world that is increasingly reliant on advances in technology.
Over five years, we and and our partners modernized, transformed and innovated ICT in the United Nations, while strengthening governance and optimizing resources. These efforts paved the way for a period of innovation at the UN.
Together, we transformed ICT in the United Nations and will contrinue working to help the Organization realize the fullness of its mission.
