What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

What led me to pursue a career in technology at the UN was my internship experience at EOSG, which later developed into a role as a data analyst. Working at the UN has provided me with a unique platform to address pressing global challenges and make a positive impact on the world. The organization's multicultural environment fosters a healthy work-life balance, while also actively advocating for gender equality, making it an ideal place to contribute my skills and passion.

What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?

My most cherished IT project at the UN was to maintain and update COVID-19 dashboards weekly, to support the UN senior leadership in their decision-making process at the EC/DC committee. These dashboards played a crucial role in monitoring the global pandemic situation and response efforts. One highlight was when Mr. Guterres walked down to our office, he expressed his admiration for the timely and accurate compilation of data from extensive sources for this valuable data product.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

First, never stop learning and stay up to date with the latest tech trends. Second, attend conferences, seminars, and workshops, and meet people from the common fields. Third, lean in at the table and never be afraid to advocate for your ideas and make your voice heard. Finally, believe in yourself.

The fact is that when women and men reach the same heights, women have undoubtedly put in more effort and overcome additional challenges. Therefore, there is every reason for women to be proud of their accomplishments.
