What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

One of my favorite technology projects at the United Nations was the network upgrade and data center optimization initiative. The goal of the project was to enhance network performance, security, and resilience across multiple remote field offices. My contribution involved designing and implementing key network solutions, managing the configuration of critical devices, and optimizing data center operations to ensure better connectivity and efficiency.

What made this project particularly rewarding was the tangible impact it had on mission operations. By reducing the server count, lowering energy consumption, and improving overall security protocols, we not only cut operational costs but also provided a more stable and secure network for mission personnel. Seeing the direct benefits of our work, such as improved communication and enhanced data protection, reinforced my passion for technology and its potential to drive positive change in global operations.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

Digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped data management worldwide, making data governance increasingly crucial for policy formulation, risk management, service improvement and accountability. These shifts have driven innovation across all sectors of socio-economic development.

As a consultant, I have been contributing to the advancement of Mongolia’s national data governance framework, which is one of my favorite projects. This initiative is part of a United Nation’s project on data governance that aims to assess and strengthen data governance in selected countries, including Mongolia. It examines the data governance framework in the context of digital transformation, identifying strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement to align with global standards.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Believe in your abilities, stay curious and never hesitate to pursue your goals. Technology is constantly evolving. So, embrace learning and seek mentors who can guide you. Don't let challenges deter you. Your unique perspective is valuable. Stay confident and remember: you belong in this field as much as anyone else. Keep pushing forward!
