What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

I work at the United Nations because it allows me to pursue my passion for addressing critical global issues such as peace, security, human rights, and sustainable development. From a young age, I have been driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in the world, and the UN provides a unique platform to do just that.

Professionally, the UN offers unparalleled opportunities for growth and development, enabling me to hone my skills and contribute to significant international initiatives. The organization's mission and values deeply resonate with my beliefs, particularly its commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation.

In my role, I have been fortunate to contribute to projects that have profoundly impacted communities worldwide, whether through peacekeeping efforts, humanitarian aid (the COVID-19 vaccine project), or promoting sustainable practices (Building a dashboard to track CO2 emissions). Knowing that my work helps improve lives globally is incredibly fulfilling and motivates me to strive for excellence.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

  1. Responding to the call for the Secretary-General’s Data Strategy: for Action by Everyone, Everywhere, I took the initiative and established a team to build an analytical dashboard to support evidence-based decisions.
  2. DOS Strategic Planning Guidance. Improving Service Delivery Through Technology, and OCSM 2.0- Better Client service – Provide solutions for client needs. I initiated and followed through with a project for the digitalization of the movement completion report, a tool that will benefit the field mission and enable data collecting, process improvement, and better visibility working closely with the client and ensuring their voice has been heard.
  3. Resolution on adopting artificial intelligence. I formed a team to initiate customized digitalized training material for the section and its client. My project team created a pilot video utilizing AI technology, aiming to enable systematic training for the section's stakeholders. The next step will be to cooperate with C-DOT for the following project.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Not only pursue a strong technical education and stay updated with industry trends but also lead and advocate for the integration of technology in improvement efforts, aligning your work with your values to achieve fulfillment and make a meaningful impact.
