What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
I am an electronic and software engineer. I have always had a passion for technology. I have moved from the private sector to the UN in 2017.
What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?
1- Migration to office 365, teams, and Sharepoint. I was representing ESCWA within the global OICT team. I handled the migration from local shared drives to Sharepoint. MS Teams installation, testing , technical support, training for the users, and I still provided support in coordination with global OICT. 2- Currently ongoing azure active directory migration project. I am representing ESCWA within the global UN team, doing pilots, testing and reporting.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Don't let the fact that we, as women, are a minority in the field, shake your self confidence, and make you doubt yourself. We can be successful, we can deliver, we can achieve big goals in the technology field, as long as we are passionate, determined and hard-workers. Let's prove ourselves, and show that we can do all tasks, as good as any other human being.
