What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
My specialization in Communication & Journalism, coupled with varied IT experience in project management, solution engineering, and technical communications kick-started my career with the UN. As a Technical Writer/ICT Network Officer, my role involves supporting innovation through business relationship management and communicating with clients.
My work involves engaging clients, identifying, ideating, researching options, and collaboratively proposing technical solutions to improve business. As part of this activity, my role also involves supporting various initiatives of the Mission Support and Substantive - preparing use cases, designing and developing effective content for campaigns and developing videos using story-approach.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
In the past few months, my favorite work has been creating a body of work and collaborating with Mission Support to develop video content for various audiences. Currently, I am identifying and developing AI use cases. This is an ongoing project aimed at improving business processes. My openness to continuous learning has provided me with the opportunity to manage the Mail & Pouch and Information Management Units.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
The field of technology offers varied opportunities. One need not necessarily be a technology geek at the core - an understanding of technology application coupled with soft skills in business presents newer opportunities for growth.
