What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

Advanced technology is like magic, and it can bring so much opportunities. Yet, I was astonished to learn through my assignment in the West African region how much of the world is still disconnected to internet, and the digital technology. This led me to gain interest on the issue.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

I co-developed and implemented innovation projects with the Ministry of Health in Cote d'Ivoire to reduce maternal deaths and empower women using new technologies such as drones, telemedicine devices, apps, and phone-based midwives training. I initiated partnerships with private sector and academia, developed concept notes, developed plans, brought different stakeholders to make ideas into reality, and conducted analysis among others. What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Let’s confront doubts, stay curious, and learn always. Begin without overthinking, listen to those who recognize and encourage you, and may you stay confident.
