Kanjanawadee Amaranon
Police Advisor and Patrol Officer, Field Office in Bentiu
Why did you decide on a career at the UN?
I joined the United Nations because I wanted my service to reach beyond borders—to protect, empower, and bring hope where it is needed most.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
My favorite initiative has been using AI and digital tools to support community sensitization activities. I use search engines and ChatGPT to prepare presentations on topics such as human rights and community safety for police officers, communities, and youth. This has helped me deliver UN mandates more effectively and engage people in meaningful ways.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Don't wait until you feel "ready." Be curious, keep learning, and use technology to solve real problems and serve others. You don't have to be an engineer to make an impact in tech—confidence, adaptability, and a willingness to learn can take you further than you imagine.
