Why did you decide on a career at the UN?

I chose a career with the United Nations because I wanted my IT service delivery skills to mean more than just solving technical issues—I wanted them to contribute to something bigger. At the UN, technology becomes a bridge to development, humanitarian support, and equal access to essential services, especially for those who need it most.

My time volunteering in Haiti opened my eyes to how powerful IT can be in driving efficiency, accountability, and impact on a global scale. Seeing the difference, even small improvements, that can make in people’s lives inspired me to be part of an organization that works for global good.

A UN career also resonates deeply with my passion for quality management and digital innovation. It allows me to contribute both technically and strategically while helping shape solutions that cross borders, uplift communities, and support the SDGs. For me, this isn’t just a career—it’s a purpose-driven journey.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

I am currently working on streamlining the ICT Service Desk procedures to align more effectively with established processes. This experience has been both challenging and enlightening, as it has given me deeper insight into the unit’s operational dynamics while enabling me to better understand the broader organizational context. It has also helped me clearly see how optimized service delivery directly supports business objectives and meets customer needs.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Technology is a dynamic and deeply fulfilling field, and one of the most important things to remember is that continuous learning is part of the journey. I still recall one of my professors telling us at the start of my IT studies that we would spend a lifetime learning—and that has proven true. The tech world evolves rapidly and has the power to change people’s lives, which makes it both impactful and exciting. My advice to women is: embrace curiosity, stay confident, keep learning, and never be afraid to take up space in this industry. There is endless opportunity, and you will never be bored!
