What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

I have always had a passion for making technology work as an enabler of organizational objectives, and I find complex environments such as the United Nations attractive. I am ever interested in how to effectively merge the people, process and technology perspectives, to solve problems and to flexibly manage emerging challenges.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

My participation in the audits of cybersecurity preparedness in the United Nations Secretariat entities from 2022 to 2023 is a highlight of my technology career. I conducted various analysis and engaged in robust discussions with multiple headquarter and field entities, on how to strengthen their cybersecurity posture for existing and emerging technologies - to manage the risks in the context of their mandates, considering resource optimization and people change management. I made valuable connections with colleagues during these assignments, and further sharpened my insight into cybersecurity issues within the United Nations system and globally.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

The technology space is unlimited, ever evolving and will welcome your contribution. Go for it, keep learning and maintain a network of mentors.
