Why did you decide on a career at the UN?
I had met a lot of people who were working at the United Nations during graduate school and met with alumni who encouraged me to work at the UN. I was really motivated to work at the UN after working as a graduate consultant for UN Women. I was eager to contribute to more meaningful projects and start an impactful career that was centered around helping women and improving the state of the world. I believe the UN was a great place to make that happen!
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
My favorite project has been The Women in Tech Campaign. I was eager to work on the digital campaign since it is centered around spotlighting women who work in Tech, and I believed in the mission and really wanted to do my best to spread awareness of the campaign. I have worked on creating digital women in tech cards, which are on the Unite Website. Moreover, I work on recording the responses of women who work in tech on what inspired them to work in tech at the UN. Through this project, I've gained a deep appreciation and respect for women who work towards using technology to improve the state of the world.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Never live with the regret of not following your dreams. Trust the process and your unique path and yourself. Try to pursue something that will make the world a better place. Women belong in all spaces.
