Why did you decide on a career at the UN?

Working at the UN provides opportunities to engage with diverse international challenges, including peacekeeping, human rights advocacy, sustainable development, and humanitarian aid. So it could also be driven by the desire to work alongside professionals from around the world, contributing to meaningful global change.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

In a UN context, the use of technology in explosive analysis helps in peacekeeping operations by detecting explosives in conflict zones. As a result, an expert in chemistry plays a vital role in the analysis of:

  • Fingerprint Examination
  • Chemical Detection and Identification
  • Environmental Impact of Explosives
  • Training and Expertise
  • Synthesis and Characterization of Explosives
  • Supporting the International Criminal Investigations

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Stay Curious and Keep Learning. The tech field evolves rapidly and it's essential to stay curious and committed to learning. Take advantage of online courses and attend workshops. There are so many resources available to deepen your skills. So, don’t be afraid to fail.
