What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
It is very fulfilling to be part of an organization and a global community that strives to make changes with a universal impact, building the world of the future. It is priceless to work with multicultural and diverse teams that have the widest variety of experiences, perceptions, and preferences towards the same goal. The project I am involved, uses the latest technologies that I learned during my MSc degree in Business Analytics and was a perfect fit with my background and experience so far in the IT sector.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
Working as an Associate Information Systems Officer at the Dag Hammarskjld Library at the UN Headquarters, in New York City, United States, I have the opportunity to be involved in various tasks. My responsibilities are ranging from establishing and ensuring that the IT Processes run smoothly, to the testing and quality assurance of the IT Systems that support the Library, multidimensional analysis of the Library's online presence, preparing user requirements as well as UX design tasks.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
I would advise women interested in pursuing a field in technology to believe in themselves, trust their career journey, be open-minded and not hesitate to request what they deserve at work. There are opportunities worldwide in various sectors and across markets for both specialist and generalist profiles. Technology is a rapidly changing field. You will always be motivated!
