What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
I have been strongly driven by the opportunity to rethink smart cities and digital transformation processes, in a multilateral environment. I've been especially motivated to contribute towards a more inclusive approach to make technology really work for people, and to make urban spaces and cities more sustainable.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
I am proud to have contributed in developing the five pillars for UN-Habitat's people-centered smart cities approach, ensuring people is put at the center of digital transformation in cities. I have especially contributed working with case studies globally, understanding best practices and use cases where technology and data have been used, for example, to improve access to basic urban services, mobility, promote participation, in particular, of women and girls and other vulnerable groups.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Dare to dare. Dare to pursue your interests and have confidence that your opinion and experiences matter. We really need more women in tech daring to make the world a more diverse and inclusive place for everyone.
