What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

It was a natural progression: after working in business process re-engineering and compliance in private sector, I always interfaced with Tech to solve business solutions and provide tangible results and that eased the process of ISO certification. When the opportunity came to join the UN, I was privileged to be part of a great team that supports Field Missions by providing solution that are customized and fits to their business needs.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

There are many, but one recent favorite has to be the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2589 to prevent, investigate, and prosecute serious crimes against United Nations personnel in peacekeeping operations and special political missions. One key initiative is the development of a system, SCR2589DB, to provide a centralized, reliable, and secure database serving as a key tool in the implementation of this resolution. My role was to collaborate with key stakeholders in order to understand the mandate in the business context and produce business and technical documentation that was required to develop this system. The project was a success and we delivered in record speed ヨ one month ahead of schedule.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Go for it. It is fulfilling when you use Tech to solve real problems .
