What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
Currently not working with technology in the UN, I work as a military staff officer in Training, exercise and evaluation. I hold a degree in Leadership, Air Power and Technology from the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy. My education consisted of basic knowledge in electrical systems, programming, safety and documentation of maintenance. The basis for future aeronautical education. Further on, the aeronautical education thought me avionics, electrical systems, structural analysis, powerplant and flight mechanics and gave me a deep understanding of aviation systems. I do not have experience in ムtechメ per se, but I'm experienced within the aviation technology.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
At UNMISS I have not heard of any technology projects other than courses that we take for cyber security etc. I think this is really good to consider the safety of using technology and the potential threats.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
I am consistently driven by my curiosity, and I often go out of my comfort zone to embrace challenges and grow. This is the advice I would give to other females who pursue a career within a male-dominated field. Showing leadership in traditionally male-dominated fields has been my strength. I lead with empathy, and I emphasize the importance of building strong relationships and a unified group dynamic. Furthermore, I want to continue to pave the way for other women who want to work within a traditionally male-dominated field.
