Why did you decide on a career at the UN?
Joining the UN was a natural evolution after a senior position in the satellite industry.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
The initiative: Shepherding a proposal for space traffic coordination to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
My contribution: I convened operational/flight dynamics experts from around the world to explore alignment on a common way forward and subsequently organized a tabletop exercise on debris and collision avoidance, as well as a workshop on Space Situational Awareness for Member State delegates, to promote a greater understanding of the topic. The proposal to COPUOS was the result of my actions.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Don't pursue ideals. Identify what you enjoy and are good at and pursue that. The rest will follow.
