What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
My career in technology at the United Nations was driven by a profound and natural interest in the field, particularly in the continuous improvement and innovation of existing technologies. This interest naturally led me to explore opportunities where I could apply my skills in a meaningful way. The opportunity to contribute to global initiatives that shape a better future for all was a compelling motivation, leading me to dedicate my skills and expertise to the UN, where technology serves as a powerful tool for advancing our shared goals.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
My favorite technology project at the United Nations has been the Precursors Incident Communication System (PICS). I had the opportunity to be involved in its improvement, upgrade, and the implementation of new features. This project was particularly rewarding because it combined creativity with practical technological objectives, ultimately enhancing the platform's effectiveness. My contribution included promoting the Precursors Incident Communication System (PICS) and conducting trainings in four UN languages. This effort helped many countries gain a better understanding of the platform and use it more efficiently, supporting global efforts in precursor control.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
My advice to women interested in pursuing a field in technology is to embrace the power of your unique ideas. Don't hesitate to introduce new concepts or approaches, even if they challenge the status quo. While staying current with the latest technologies and trends is crucial, it's equally important to nurture your own creative and innovative vision. This blend of knowledge and originality is what truly drives progress. Believe in the value of your perspective and the impact it can make on the future of technology.
