What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
It started at the university with a diploma in computer engineering and a degree in telecommunications engineering. I knew these courses would answer the many questions I had on how wireless phones connect to each other and how are voices transferred from one phone to another? As a network engineer, we are responsible for the internet connectivity at the UN campus making sure there are no interruptions with the day-to-day work of clients and protecting our organization from any kind of cyber-attack.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
Setting up the new technology center from scratch, laying cables, configuring the equipment and installing it, connecting this new technology center to the old one as a failover/backup also setting up of the Virtual Instructor-Led Training laboratory that delivers an interactive experience between instructors and participants.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Let go of your fears, embrace technology because in this new era, IT is inevitable. Technology is advancing daily, so we need to keep updated, donメt be left behind. Letメs encourage more women into the tech industry from a young age. ICT is a fun and realistic field in making this world go forward, be a part of it.
