What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
I joined technology in United Nations to give in my contributions and be part of the United Nationsメ vision of the Sustainable Development Goals, and of marking the world a better place for everyone regardless of oneメs gender or status. Secondly, I joined technology in UN to demonstrate, as a woman, my potentials, skills, and ability to do greater things. Thirdly technology in UN opens doors for the global empowerment of women, girls, and other marginalized groups hence, I donメt want to miss on this important opportunity. Lastly, technology in UN the suitable podium where my voice, among other voices, against gender inequalities, occupational segregation, gender wage gaps, discrimination and freedom of expression may be loudly heard.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
Developing Diagrammatic Chart for Motorola UHF/VHF Tetra Hand-held Radio was my first favourite small project in our FTS Telecommunications unit. As a Hand-held Radio Trainer, I developed that chart, indicating all parts of the UHF/VHF Tetra Hand-held Radio with all their operational functions. I also developed a User Training Manual (UTM) for all UHF/VHF radio users in the mission. It helps the user on how to initiate a radio call to the Base Station or direct to another radio. Technical guide the chart is providing great support the radio users in the UNMISS.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
I would advise women to join field of technology in even greater numbers, because women made untold contributions to the digital world. Women have to go for studies in computer science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Data Scientist, Space Exploration to promote diversity throughout IT.
