Deadline for Third OSS4SDGs Hackathon Extended to 1 October

The deadline for participants to submit ideas for the third edition of the Open Source Software for Sustainable Development Goals (OSS4SDGs) Hackathon has been extended to 1 October. Register Today!

As part of our commitment to the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA), this hackathon will promote the use of Digital Public Goods (DPGs) and harness their potential to address global issues. Participants will have the opportunity to develop open source solutions that address these challenges by building upon existing open source projects and DPGs.

These challenges include tackling gender-discriminatory language, addressing gender-based violence, combating misinformation, and addressing safety concerns faced by women.

All submissions should result in open source software with innovative solutions to the specified challenges.

This competition is a collaborative effort of the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), the European Commission - Directorate-General for Informatics (EC-DIGIT), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), EQUALS and Child Online Protection (COP). This collaboration is part of the overall framework for collaboration with the ongoing ITU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development

A panel consisting of representatives from UN OICT, ITU, EQUALS and COP will evaluate the solutions submitted through the platform. The winning ideas will be announced on 20 September.
