What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?
To work on projects with the potential for global impact.
What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?
My favorite technology project at the United Nations has been utilizing social listening to inform humanitarian efforts. I enjoyed innovating with social data mined from public radio and new digital social media platforms to generate insights that have informed global missions in peacebuilding, fighting inequalities affecting women, children, and girls, and improving general service delivery at the country level. It has been a delight to harness technology to create new and novel data sources using traditional media such as radio. With these social insights, I have leveraged social listening techniques to inform and aid decision-making among partners.
What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?
Focus on improving yourself, and the rest will fall into place. While the industry may currently be male-dominated, your contributions are crucial in shaping technological solutions for all of humanity.
