What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

A friend of mine who worked here, reached out to me because he knew that the UN needed someone who knew object-oriented language.

What has been your favorite IT project at the United Nations and what was your technical contribution?

I have been at the UN for over 29 years, and I have been blessed with so many interesting projects, it is hard to pick just one! But if I have to choose, it would be the one where we replaced the old code cable system that all of the peacekeeping missions used. It was challenging but I met an amazing people worldwide and I had a very engaging team that made it happen.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

In general: Always stay on top of the latest technology and do not be afraid to introduce it and be a pioneer! At the UN: Always keep the big picture in mind or the stone in your shoe will drive you crazy!
