What brought you to a career in technology at the United Nations?

I am a medical laboratory scientist with an interest in technology, especially as the world is fast becoming a global village. The operational efficiency of clinical laboratory science relies on technology, even though most testing paradigms have transitioned from analog to digital. My tech skills and knowledge in my field of study charted my course into this dynamic and challenging Organization, the United Nations.

What has been your favorite technology project or initiative at the United Nations and why? What was your contribution?

The EarthMed digital platform was initiated by the United Nations Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) to monitor the clinical activities and compliance in all the UN clinics across the globe. Aside from this, it drastically reduced the use of paper in the medical section, promoting a seamless workflow and serving as a unified database for UN clinical data. It also facilitates audit and improvement plan measures towards the delivery of the UN mandates.

My contribution is to ensure prompt and accurate laboratory data entry on the EarthMed including working on other Microsoft sheets.

What advice would you give women interested in pursuing a field in technology?

Technology is neither gender-based nor gender biased; as long as the interest is there, you will make an impact in the digital world.
