The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit – the Netherlands are co-hosting the 4th International User Group Meeting for goAML (IUGM4) at United Nations Headquarters (31 May – 1 June). goAML is a software application used by Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism developed by the Enterprise Application Centre-Vienna (EAC-VN).
All Member States are invited to attend the 31 May “Open briefing on combatting money laundering and the financing of terrorism and the United Nations Digital Agenda”. Learn more >>
UNTIL wraps up workshops in Malaysia, India
United Nations Technology Innovation Labs (UNTIL) met recently with partners in Malyasia and India to discuss the establishment of the first in a network of regional UNTILs. These labs will be focused on building innovative technology solutions and capacity in the host countries and sharing solutions and best practices with all United Nations Member States. UNTILs will be housed within host countries and be designed to implement technology innovations that help Member States progress towards achieving the SDGs, support capacity building for the global ICT ecosystem, and provide incentives for local technology providers to produce technology solutions with positive societal impact.

CITO discusses ICT strategy at global townhall
Ms. Atefeh Riazi, Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), provided an update on the implementation of the United Nations ICT strategy to staff across the Secretariat during a Global ICT Townhall, Tuesday 16 May at UNHQ. Senior ICT leaders also provided updates on strategic initiatives, including information security, innovation, field technology and the migration to Unite Mail.

Information Security ALERT: Global Ransomware attack
The global Ransomware attack "WannaCry" impacted hundreds of thousands of systems in over 150 countries. The full impact globally is still unknown. The United Nations systems had been patched and were unaffected by the attack. Security personnel responded quickly to provide personnel with tips for securing home devices and further protecting the Organization by avoiding suspicious emails with attachments and links. All are reminded to take the mandatory information security awareness course.
