Innovative tools for fighting organized crime

Money-laundering and the financing of terrorism pose great risks to the security and stability of financial institutions worldwide. An intelligence analysis system developed by the Enterprise Application Centre in Vienna (EAC-VN), goAML, is among the critical tools Member States are using to combat these ever-growing threats.  The UN Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Netherlands co-hosted the 4th International User Group Meeting (IUGM4) for goAML at United Nations Headquarters, 31 May – 1 June 2017. ID2020 Summit explores digital ID for all

The ID2020 Summit 2017, held at United Nations Headquarters 19 June, brought together humanitarians and technologists to highlight the challenges 1.1 billion face (e.g. access to basic services such as healthcare) because they lack documented proof of their identity, and to explore how to provide a universal digital identification for every person on the planet.  Ms. Atefeh Riazi, Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Information Technology Officer, opened the ID2020 “Platform for Change” Summit by welcoming the attendees and thanking them for their commitment to working together on “the incredible challenge of identity, and to make sure that we use innovation and technology to address this issue in a scalable, secure and sustainable manner.”

Unite Ideas #SDGInsights challenge launched to help visualize SDGs

The data revolution is well underway, and with it comes great potential to aid sustainable development. The Unite Ideas #SDGInsights challenge launched in collaboration with the UN DESA Development Policy & Analysis Division (DPAD) and Demographic & Health Surveys (DHS), asks participants to use DHS data and other georeferenced datasets to help visualize and explore the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Skype for Business - a new way to communicate globally

Unite Mail (Outlook) is being deployed to the entire global Secretariat. The first phase includes a limited deployment of Skype for Business (S4B), replacing Sametime for individual and group chat or instant messaging. S4B will be installed on your computer with Office 2016 and Outlook. Learn more >>

Searching for a colleague's email address? When using the Address Book button to lookup names in the Directory, Outlook sorts those by first name. It is not possible to change that.
