Frankfurt Institute Doctoral Student Wins ‘Sustainable Energy for All Challenge’ by Improving Modelling Tool Meant to Facilitate Universal Electricity Access

Mr. Jonas Hörsch, a doctoral student in physics at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, is the winner of the Unite Ideas #SE4All MathProg Challenge. Mr. Hörsch’s solution significantly improved an existing open source energy modelling tool, the Open Source Energy Modelling System (OSeMOSYS), making it more accessible and useful for energy planners around the world who are working to achieve the goal of universal access to electricity. Learn more >>

The UN Board of Auditors (BOA) is conducting a user satisfcation survey to seek fair and objective feedback from staff on the quality and usefulness of Umoja and core ICT services.
All UN personnel are asked to complete the survey by Monday 6 February 2017.


OICT showcases innovative solutions for achieving the SDGs

Unite Ideas launches #IDETECT challenge to monitor internal displacement

More than 40 million men, women, and children are displaced within their countries of residence, making them among those most likely to be excluded from social and economic opportunities for development. In collaboration with the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, Unite Ideas is challenging the public to create a tool that will be used to monitor internal displacement as a result of natural disasters, armed conflicts, generalized violence and development projects. Learn more >>
