Introduction to organizational cybersecurity: vulnerabilities and risk mitigation strategies

Global Security & Architecture Section, OICT

Information & Communications Technology (ICT) is being leveraged by developing countries to become more effective in all areas of public service delivery such as education, identification, healthcare, communications, and others. While it is critical to adopt ICT rapidly for achieving faster socio-economic growth, it is equally critical to ensure the reliability and integrity of the underlying infrastructure and information systems. This talk provides an overview for people without a technology background of the vulnerabilities, threat landscape (e.g. types of actors, motivations, etc.) faced by public organizations operating in cyberspace as well as the methodologies to mitigate associated risks.

12 p.m.

Cyberspace: protecting critical infrastructure

Digital Blue Helmets, OICT

Governments, business and people are increasingly connected and carry-out important activities online through open networks such as the Internet and private governmental networks. These activities include commerce, knowledge exchange, communications, and management of critical public services, to name a few, all of which must be secure and reliable at all times. This reality comes with new challenges, prompting Governments to invest significant resources on protecting cyberspace and its interaction with other national critical infrastructures. This talk provides an overview for people without a cybersecurity background of systematic approaches and strategies to protect critical infrastructure such as evaluations, simulations, threat & dependencies analysis.

This event is open to UN Member States and personnel of the UN System holding a valid UN ID.
